A. Pick 16 movies. When you work late you don't have to fight traffic driving home. Today we celebrate our fifth wedding anniversary. Ten incredible years, five of it married... here's to another amazing 50... So midsummer of '06 is but a memory... but what a memory. :) We had an absolutely fabulous time with dear friends badseed01, onlyjanica, and psyberboi, good food and copious amounts of booze... We are so happy you all could make it, it truly made the summer. Even the weather cooperated (though the weather Sunday was giving us California flashbacks *hot*)... moonlight croquet was a highlight. It was awesome to get to share some of our Swedish midsummer traditions such as the pickled herring and 'snaps visor' (drinking songs), even though we ran out of time and didn't get the big midsummer pole built - we'll save that for next year. You guys were incredibly good sports when it came to the singing and after that many shots you could all have passed for native Swedes, lol. Proving that Eddie (Izzard) was right after all... 70% of how you look, 20% of how you sound, only 10% is what you say... heh. Your champagne fondue was super delicious onlyjanica sweetie, next time we'll have to start earlier so we'll have room for the chocolate one as well. :) Only one week to go. Last year about this time we were in Sweden with my family gearing up for the holiday. The past decade or so the tradition has been to celebrate the big day on the island across from the summer house at my uncle's refurbished ol' boat house - now turned into a bar/party house... right on the water. My younger cousins shuttling every one across in the boat since they are the only sober ones due to the fact that they are too young to partake of the traditional brew... Pretty awesome. The only holiday I can think of where you have three generations in various states of inebriation... but all in good true fun. Seriously! My chores on midsummer morning usually entail dressing the small midsummer pole at the house since we no longer partake in the larger community festivities where they dress a 20+ foot pole each year, ours measure about 7 feet (about all I can handle... heh) - of course I'm in charge of the phallic sculpting, have been since childhood, my parents had no idea what they were creating, lol. Just wanted to say... I cannot get enough of this band! Simply PHENOMENAL! We were blown away when we stumbled across the debut album ('Lost Alone') a couple of years ago and I still have a hard time removing it from my CD player... The second release from last year ('Dreamweb') certainly did not disappoint either, taking the theme of the first album and expanding it further. The more you listen to either CD the better they get, now I know that's common but it is especially true here. Although we had not originally set up any grand plans for the holiday weekend, aside from getting some well deserved R&R and breaking in our new toy 'the super bbq'... (*yum*yum*yum*) ...as luck would have it (last minute) we had the pleasure of hosting lovely BBQ!!!!!!! :) We just got the dream contraption today... 6 burner stainless monster, muah-ha-ha... Oh Joy! Seriously... what changed? Traffic this whole week has been HELL!!! No accidents, no boneheaded drivers stuck on the road and yet it has added 30-45 min to my usual commute - EACH WAY! Sudden exodus from the city to the peninsula? Swarms of locusts driving people west? What??? Luckily enough people decided to play hooky this morning so it was smooth sailing the whole way. I hope it holds for this afternoon...... Alright thanks for letting me vent...... sigh! |
