VNV Nation is playing at El Corazon in Seattle tomorrow night (June 30). We'll be there, it will be our last time out in Seattle before we move on July 19. Hope to see you there!

Whaddaya know... we used VNV's "Standing" as our wedding song... and tomorrow is our 6th wedding anniversary too. What a great way to celebrate!? :)

Current Music: VNV...

Finally, a date has been set for the BIG move back home to Sweden. The next few weeks will be very hectic getting everything in order but we are SO EXCITED!! We are packing up the house and shipping home a 20-foot ocean container on July 16, then we fly out on July 19.  More on this to come....

We had originally planned to go to the VNV Nation show  at the El Corazon in Seattle on June 30 (our 6th wedding anniversary )... but alas, they are sold out... We were not sure if we were still going to be here on the 30th, so we did not get tickets in time... oh well. So if you know of anyone looking to get rid of a couple of tickets let us know. :)

Have a great summer everyone!!

...atoo tale"... alright got your attention, heh.   :)

Considering that it is still not Friday, and the time seems to positively CRAWL... For those of you (like me) who could use a little  pick-me-up-feel-good-type-thingy  right about now, this is the cutest story I've read in a while... and it's got a ton of pictuers to boot!

A tale of two cockies...

We are inching closer and closer to our move back home to Sweden and quite frankly we cannot wait to finally be on our way! This waiting is just excruciating!! J’s residency permits came in a couple of weeks ago, and the cat is having her rabies titer tests this week, that means she will be travel ready in another 3 weeks...  Now we just have to sell the house... oh and it is taking a whole lot longer than we had expected. If you know of anyone who is looking to buy a good investment property (2.3 acres), and an awesome house on the peninsula (Port Orchard)? Let me know and I can send you a link to a virtual walk-through.

I know we've been mostly lurking lately, but we enjoy reading about all of your adventures. All our energy is pretty much focused about 7,500 miles away which makes it hard to stay focused on the daily stuff -very exhausting! ;)

We hope everyone will have a great summer. Take care!

We wanted you all to know that we really lucked out and have found the perfect new home for our baby cockatoo already! :)

Azriel has been invited to join the flock at the most progressive and innovative aviary in this country.

I have been following their work for years and they are regarded very high in the bird community. They are operating under a whole different philosophy than any other aviaries/breeders. Through a selective breeding program they are developing a domesticated breed of parrots better suited as pets. They do this by taking well adjusted pet birds such as Azirel who has proven to already have the genetical disposition to be a good pet in a family environment, then re-school them (over the course of two years) to become a "bird" again and live in a flock of other birds of the same species. Here they are allowed to, in their own time, choose a mate if they want to, and breed (these birds mate for life and are very close to their chosen mates, so that would be fantastic for us).

This place is in Ohio, and since the whole midwest is frozen over at the moment she will stay with us until it is warm enough for her to travel (40's). Even though this is still the hardest thing we've ever done, we feel this is a fantastic opportunity for her and we feel good that we can give her a better life than we could ever provide for her ourselves. We feel very lucky to have found this solution.

We are looking for a new home for our Moluccan Cockatoo.  She will come free to a good home WITH PARROT EXPERIENCE only. We love her dearly, and want to find her a new home where she can be equally loved for the rest of her life – a big commitment here. We do not know a whole lot of people up here in Washington so we were hoping that some of you with larger networks could help us spread the word and maybe help us find a great new home. We really appreciate your help!

As some of you know, we are planning to move back to Sweden this summer permanently. I have been in contact with the Swedish Department of Agriculture (equivalent of the USDA) pretty much constantly since we made the decision to move last summer. As it stands right now there has been a ban on bringing any pet birds into the EU (of which Sweden is part) since 2005 due to the avian flu. We had been waiting for this ban to be lifted, but have instead seen it extended twice, and today we got the news we have been dreading all along. The ban stands.

What does this mean for us? Well for one I have been crying all morning (blaming my sniffles on a cold - damn cubicle offices, no privacy), because it means that we are going to have to leave our sweet baby behind...

Anyone who is interested can email me directly at karma@wavecable.com, or call me on my cell 360.473.3618.

Thank you very much!

For you who don't know yet, we are in the middle of planning a big move - to Sweden sometime late spring/summer. Needless to say, a lot of logistics to work out and it seems we spend every ounce of spare time preparing...

Anyway... we just wanted to wish everyone a great new year!

Sigh... some dumb kid rear ended me on my way in to work this morning. Luckily I'm fine and the car is mostly ok. His car looked a mess, but that's not my problem. First I thought it was just a few scratches and some white paint on my bumper, but by the time I pulled into work I must have hit a bump and all of a sudden the hazard lights started flashing. I reach for the button to turn them off AND IT FALLS INTO THE DASH!!! I knew I had bumped it when the guy hit me earlier (I was just reaching to turn on the heater when he hit me) but I did not realize the button was broken. Aarrrg!

I did not think he had hit me that hard, but looking around I realize that all the crap I keep in the car was on the floor or was in a general state of disarray. Great. I had planned to give the kid a break (he was driving his dad's car to school... looked to be 18, tops), but now I guess I have to take it in to get it looked at. But first task at hand, how the h**ll do I turn off the hazards before the battery drains out? In a flash of genius I called the SAAB dealer in Fife and the very kind mechanic told me what fuse to pull out.

Problem solved. Temporarily.

Questionnaire snagged from:
Janica's blog

1.) Where did you ring in 2006?
Ehm... at home alone (hubby and I), for the first time ever on NYE. Good times.

2.) What was your status by Valentine's Day?
Still very happily married, 5 years and counting, thank you. :)

3.) Were you in school (anytime this year)?
Nope... taught myself a whole bunch of stuff though.

4.) How did you earn your keep?
Associate creative director in advertising... wow that sound so corporate.

5.) Did you have to go to the hospital?
Thankfully no.

6.) Did you encounter the police?
Yes actually, once in the middle of the night last spring break an officer knocked on our door (at 2 a.m. on a week day - yawn) to let us know we needed to collect our trashcan that some punks had kicked down the hill. Luckily his rookie partner had already collected all the trash that had fallen out on the way down... Aahhh the joys of homeownership.

7.) Where did you go on vacation?
My family's vineyard in south of France, visiting family in Sweden, from there a couple of daytrips to Denmark and Norway, plus the lovely airport in Amsterdam (but I s'pose that does not count). Oh, hey... that was 2005! ... brain meltdown... WHERE HAS THIS YEAR GONE?????

8.) What did you purchase that was over $500?
Hubby and I both got hybrid Trek bikes.

9.) Did you know anybody who got married?
Nope, we did have a wedding cancellation though... they called it off right after we had received the invite. Crazy kids...

10.) Do you know anybody who passed away?
Four goldfish... R.I.P. Chokora, Merlin, Koyuki, Fantasia

11.) Have you run into anybody you graduated high school with?
Nope, I'm about 5,000 miles away from where I went to high school, so probability would be pretty slim.

12.) Did you move anywhere?
Nope.

13.) What sporting events did you go to?
Heh... sports?!? We did however watch Tour de France from the living room couch for 3 weeks last summer, does that count?

14.) What concerts did you go to?
None.

15.) Are you registered to vote?
Nope, can't since I'm not a citizen.

16.) If so, did you do your patriotic duty on Nov. 7?
See above.

17.) Where do you live now?
Port Orchard on the lovely peninsula.

18.) Describe your birthday.
Ahhh... hmmmm... can't recall. We've gotten too practical about these things. (Note to self: celebrate good enough to remember it next year.)

19.) What's the one thing you thought you would never do but did in 2006?
I'm going to pretend I am a high-powered CEO and plead the 5th on that one.

20.) What is one thing you regretted this year?
Working too much thus neglecting friends.

21.) What's something you learned about yourself?
After 12 years in the US I'm really homesick!

22.) Any new additions to your family?
Nope.

23.) What was your best month?
The month we decided to move back home (to Sweden), I think it was in August.

24.) What from pop culture will you remember 2006 by?
The whole mess. I cannot believe how obsessed we all are by pop culture... You just cannot escape it! I honestly could give a rat’s ass weather 'ol Brit is out partyin' without panties again, y'all.

25.) How would you rate this year with a scale from 1 (shitty) to 10 (excellent)?
I would have to say... 7.

When you work late you don't have to fight traffic driving home... unless you work so late the "late-night-road-crew" is stirring and has one lane closed retrofitting for the new bridge...
